Message From Founding Chair, Professor Richard A. Slottee:
Consumer Law has developed into a unique area of legal endeavor and inquiry, encompassing issues and concepts which are distinct from those in bankruptcy and debtor/creditor relations. A significant number of attorneys now represent clients with consumer law issues. The goals of the Consumer Law Section are to provide a forum for the exchange of information regarding consumer law; to increase the public's awareness of consumer rights; to promote competence and professionalism among lawyers by offering educational opportunities; and to assist the Bar in law improvement activities by reviewing and commenting on consumer legislation and issues.
The Consumer Law Section of the Oregon State Bar was formed in 1995. The Section currently has 144 members.
The Executive Committee meets on the third Wednesday of every month at the Lewis & Clark Legal Clinic, 310 SW 4th Ave., Suite 1018, Portland, at 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Any members of the Section are welcome to attend.
